That's a stretch: Discover Yoga poses that complement your sport

Yoga can be a fantastic complement to various sports by helping athletes improve flexibility, balance, strength, and mental focus. Here are some yoga poses categorized by sport. If you don't see your sport below, look for poses that mimic the movement of your sport. Basic yoga poses provide increased flexibility, strength and better alignment:

1. Running:

  • Downward Dog:

    • Stretches calves, hamstrings, and strengthens shoulders.

  • Pigeon Pose:

    • Opens hips and stretches the IT band.

  • Warrior Poses (I, II, III):

    • Strengthen and stretch legs, hip flexors, and ankles.

2. Cycling:

  • Puppy Pose:

    • Opens the chest and shoulders, stretches the spine.

  • Seated Forward Bend:

    • Stretches hamstrings and lower back.

  • Bridge Pose:

    • Strengthens the back, glutes, and thighs.

3. Swimming:

  • Fish Pose:

    • Opens the chest, stretches the neck and spine.

  • Cobra Pose:

    • Strengthens the back and improves posture.

  • Child's Pose:

    • Stretches hips, thighs, and ankles.

4. Basketball:
